Geo news 2005
Sunday, 13 February 2005
SBG releases new modules for network communication with GeoROG and point databases.

Generally
  • The layout has changed into Office P/.NET.

Communication
  • GeoROG. Communication via network (TCP/IP).
It is now possible to transfer files from Geo to GeoROG by a network (TCP/IP), and also the other way round. Files are being transferred much faster than before. The GeoROG does not need to be connected to a computer where Geo is running. The same technique can also be used to upgrade GeoROG.

Coordinate files
  • Report of point codes. A new report in Geo displays all existing point codes in a certain coordinate file. Except for the codes, the number of points is also shown.

Point database

A new module for point databases makes it possible to connect Geo to any ODBC-compatible database; for example, Oracle based applications of databases from Tekis (Topobase) or from Spatial Technology.

Advanced searches for points are possible by combining different search options. Border polygons can also be used to extract points. SQL statements can be used as well. Database queries can be stored which makes it easy to retrieve the same queries again. The database can be configured to display optional views or columns from a table in Geo. Points can be displayed both graphically and numerically.

The database can be used to access data and the user may also add, edit and delete points in the database. These operations imply that the points are stored in a database table.

It is very easy to transmit points from the database to coordinate files.

Volume calculation
  • Wedge-shaped elements. It is possible to create cross sections with wedge-shaped elements. During volume calculations, these elements make it possible to separate different quantities of fill in slopes of ditches.
  • Vegetation cutting. It is possible to calculate vegetation cutting distinguished from topsoil.
