In Geo, new functions have been developed concerning line profiles and AutoCAD files.
Line profiles
A new file format has been introduced, called line profile. Line profile, prw, is a format for pipes, wires and cables. A new function makes it possible to create and visualize pipe drawings. The file format can store an unlimited number of different kinds of pipes.
The new file format supports pipes of different kinds, and it is possible to distinguish existing, designed, and pipes to be deleted. There are predefined pipes for water and sewerage pipes, and it is possible to distinguish pipes for surface water and waste water for example. It is also possible to define other types of wires and pipes, for example gas pipes and conductions of heat.
Describing information about pipes for example dimension and type of conduit can be added to the pipes. It is also possible to add data about wells and fire hydrants. There is a new special drawing format where information connected to the pipes can be added. In the drawing it is possible to store information about water and sewerage pipes and it is also possible to add a road profile and a terrain profile. The drawing can then display graphical and numerical information about the road and water and sewerage pipes. In the numerical view of the drawing information about pipe dimension, type of pipe, invert level, slope and type of well can be displayed, as well as information about the ground.
Line profiles and drawings can be transferred to AutoCAD.
Working with AutoCAD-files
In the latest version of Geo, there are new improved functions for creating, displaying, and editing AutoCAD drawings. Geo now opens files created by AutoCAD 2006. The graphical presentations of dwg- and dxf-files include text styles, line styles, line widths, dimensions, hatches, and splines etcetera. It is possible to read and create external references (Xref). AutoCAD functions like Audit and Purge are also implemented in Geo.
The functions to extract information from dwg-files have been improved, nested blocks can for example be handled directly, without exploding. It is possible to vectorize dwg-files into geo-format and the resulting vector based image can be used as a background image.
There are new tools to transfer geo-files into dwg-format, where each file format is transferred separately. In this way, it is possible to save different types of data (for example coordinate files and terrain models) in different ways.
When transferring drawings in .dra-format into AutoCAD-format, AutoCAD-layouts are automatically created for each side in the drawing. The receiver of the AutoCAD file will find this enhancement useful as it will be easier to work with the dwg-file. Exportation of the new line profiles to AutoCAD format is totally supported.
